Opus 40 frequently hosts special educational field trips and tours, offering immersive educational experiences in the arts and natural sciences.  Our main domains of knowledge include the fine arts, the natural sciences (eg. geology, ecology, biodiversity of local flora and fauna), building construction science (eg. dry stone masonry and occasionally carving), and the history of construction and industry in the region. Our favorite educational visits are ones that are paired with the ongoing domains of research at Opus 40, be it related to bluestone material science and the conservation of the monument, historic buildings and carved sculptures, or the site development focused on landscape design and the forested ecology of the High Woods area.

Our site-specific curricula are flexible and easily adapted for education at many levels: from elementary education, to high school, all the way up to undergraduate courses, graduate level research programs, and adult education. We coordinate with educators to meet the specific learning objectives of the group, matching a specialist educator where ever possible.

Note: For younger student groups, one chaperone is required for every six children under 12, or every 10 adolescents between 13 and 17. All visiting groups must adhere to Opus 40’s safety rules, without exception.
