Volunteering at Opus 40
Be a part of on of the Hudson Valley’s most beloved attractions!
Do you love Opus 40 — or love the outdoors — and want to get to know it from an insider’s perspective? We have some great opportunities to be a part of the team, to work in ongoing initiatives and programs, dive into our history, and serve as a steward of the grounds in an inspiring outdoor setting.
Here are a few ways to get involved, that allow you to tailor your volunteer experience to your skills and interests:
The Events Supporter — Do you love music, community, being close to the action? Come lend your energy to some of Opus 40’s most exciting events! All summer long we present sold-out concerts featuring amazing international artists and in the Autumn we pull out all the stops to host a dazzling Gala to celebrate and support this place we all love.
The Devoted Docent — Do you like to talk to people about art, history, construction and geology? Join a core group of people who know us well and spend time on site during events and busier visiting days. From the Quarryman’s Museum to the quarry itself, docents answer questions, point out aspects of our site, and help visitors get to know us.
The Happy Horticulturalist — Do you have that green thumb? Help us take care of our remarkable 63-acre property, with native plants work, planting, pollinator support and more!
The Trailblazer — Are you a budding forester, and want to learn how to see the forest from the trees? Once or twice a season, we take a small team onto our quarry trails to bushwhack a little and clear the paths of debris deep in the forest.
The Intrepid Intern — Don’t see something that interests you? Make something up! We work with interns all year in myriad other inspiring projects.
