July 9 Aziza and the Cure, Bette Smith & Band
A musical marriage, Aziza & the Cure is led by wife and husband, Joelle and River Rouen. Violinist extraordinaire, electric bassist, and enchanting vocalist, Joelle’s tremendous talent is keenly complemented by River’s artistry of guitar, sophisticated verses, and vital musicality. Blending influences from Classical, Jazz, Hip Hop, New Orleans, and Latin Music traditions, Aziza & the Cure creates a deeply rooted, transcendent blend of music.
Wild rock & soul singer Bette Smith traces elements of her life-affirming new album ‘The Good, The Bad and The Bette’ to her childhood in rough Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn. Musically, it connects to the gospel music she heard in church and the soul music on the corners. No party host would regret putting on this platter!
July 16 Sean Della Croce
Sean Della Croce is a songwriter with a voice powerfully tuned to every story she tells. Her debut album on Pasadena Records, Illuminations, is set for release in early 2021. “Rebecca Henry,” the first single from the project will be released October 30, 2020. Della Croce has forged a style all her own with her latest project. Illuminations is a blend of folk wisdom with Americana heart and a truly alternative soul. The record is rooted first and foremost in Della Croce’s poetic lyrics—the 12-track album is comprised entirely of original songs. Della Croce plays guitar on the album as well.
July 20 Elijah Wolf & Hannah Jadagu
Given the state of the world these days, it’s hard to imagine a more fitting—and necessary—moment for Elijah Wolf’s stunning new collection, ‘Brighter Lighting,’ to land. Recorded with acclaimed producer Sam Cohen (Kevin Morby, Andrew Combs) and an all-star band including Wilco guitarist Nels Cline, the album marks the start of an adventurous new chapter for Wolf, who moves beyond the spare and isolated bedroom folk of his earlier work here in favor of a more collaborative, immersive sound.
Hannah Jadagu is an 18-year-old singer, songwriter, and producer from Mesquite, Texas, who is signed to Sub Pop Records. Using electric guitars that plug into her iRig, Garageband iOS, and a contemporary/indie style of songwriting and vocals, Hannah has created a unique sound for her music. Currently studying at NYU, Hannah has a modern take on music from the perspective of a small-town Texas musician.
July 30 Billy Wylder Band
From the front-lines at Standing Rock to the archaic streets of Jerusalem, the Sahel Desert to Carnegie Hall, music has been the source of strength for Billy Wylder. The band features Avi Salloway (Bombino/Hey Mama/Avi & Celia) joined by an inspired cast of singular artists who have performed across five continents including concerts at Coachella, Newport Folk Festival, New Orleans Jazz Fest, Montreal Jazz Fest, Carnegie Hall, and Lincoln Center.
August 6 Hollis Brown
Hollis Brown was formed by Queens-natives and songwriters Mike Montali (lead vocals/guitar) and Jonathan Bonilla (lead guitar). Both first generation immigrants (Italian-American and Puerto Rican-American, respectively), they soon found their musical brethren across America, recruiting Andrew Zehnal and Chris Urriola. The independent act has achieved a significant amount of success since their formation in 2011. They released their debut album Ride On The Train on Alive Naturalsound in 2013 (produced by Adam Landry), garnering song and video premieres from Rolling Stone, Paste, and American Songwriter, Their 2015 follow up 3 Shots, garnered music placements in the worldwide trailer for the Michael Keaton film “The Founder,” the Willem Dafoe/Matt Dillon film “Bad Country,” Direct TV’s “Kingdom” etc.
