Fite (with help from local carpenters) built his original bachelor quarters and studio in the mid-1930s. The area to the right (from the front) with the tall windows was his original studio. Most of the house was finished by the 1950s; the front entrance/solarium was added in the 1970s. The house currently serves as a residence for members of Fite’s family, who also take care of the maintenance and running of Opus 40.

The house under construction, with snazzy new station wagon out front.

The house today.
